A bit about our Tradesman template:
The Tradesman template is specifically for businesses such as:
Builders and contractors
Carpenters, joiners and other trades
Property services
Interior specialists
Renovation businesses
General home-improvement companies
The idea is to give a tradesperson a professional-looking site without paying for a completely bespoke website. The templates are built directly in Squarespace, so you can edit the content yourself rather than needing separate design software.
What you get
The template is essentially a pre-designed Squarespace site structure. Our templates incorporate things such as professionally designed layouts, mobile-responsive sections, typography/colour systems, calls-to-action, contact forms, service pages and portfolio/gallery layouts.
You then replace the placeholder material with your own:
Your logo → your photographs → your services → your copy → your contact details → your branding.
The designs can be adapted further, including adding things such as video, booking systems, members' areas and downloads.
The biggest attraction
For a trades business, the template approach makes a lot of sense because the website doesn't need to be enormously complicated. You generally need to answer four questions quickly:
What do you do?
Where do you work?
Can I trust you?
How do I get a quote?
A good trades template therefore needs strong photography, clear services, evidence of previous work and prominent enquiry/quote calls-to-action. That's also consistent with Squarespace's own guidance for sites for trades such as plumbing, roofing, electrical, renovation and painting.
The £195 is for the template/design, not the entire ongoing cost of running a website. You'll still need your Squarespace subscription and domain arrangements.
If you already have a Squarespace account, we can put the template onto your account; if you're new to Squarespace, we’ll help get you set up.

Populating your new website:
For a builder / construction company website, the main goal is to answer three questions quickly:
Can I trust you?
Can you do the type of work I need?
How do I get a quote?
The most important things to include
1. Strong homepage
Clear headline saying exactly what you do
Your location/service area
High-quality photos of your actual work
A prominent “Get a Quote” / “Request a Consultation” button
Short explanation of why customers should choose you
2. Portfolio / projects
This is probably the most important section for a builder. Show:
Before & after photos
Completed projects
Project type and location
Brief description of the work
High-quality, genuine photos rather than stock images
3. Services
Clearly list what you offer, e.g.:
Extensions
New builds
Renovations
Loft conversions
Kitchens/bathrooms
Roofing
Groundworks
Commercial work
Only list services you actually provide.
4. Trust signals
People are handing you a lot of money, so make trust obvious:
Years of experience
Qualifications/accreditations
Insurance
Guarantees/warranties
Reviews and testimonials
Awards
Memberships
Company registration details where appropriate
5. Reviews
Put genuine customer reviews prominently on the site. Ideally include:
Customer first name
Project type
Location
Photo of the finished project, if possible
Link to an external review profile where appropriate
6. About the company
People want to know who's actually going to build their home. Include:
Who you are
Your experience
Your team
Your approach to projects
What makes you different
Photos of the actual team are much better than generic construction imagery.
7. Easy quote/contact process
Don't make someone hunt for your phone number.
Have a Get a Quote button in the header and repeat it throughout the site. Your enquiry form should be simple:
Name
Phone/email
What they want done
Location
Approximate project details
Optional photo upload
8. Areas you cover
For example:
Builders in Richmond, Kingston, Wimbledon & South West London
This helps both customers and Google understand where you operate.
9. FAQ
Answer questions people are likely to have:
How much does an extension cost?
How long does a typical project take?
Do you handle planning permission?
Do you provide architectural drawings?
Are you insured?
Do you offer guarantees?
How does the quotation process work?
10. Mobile speed and usability
A huge number of potential customers will first visit from their phone. The site should:
Load quickly
Have large, obvious buttons
Make the phone number clickable
Have short forms
Display project photos beautifully
Never make visitors struggle to navigate
A good homepage structure
Header: Logo | Services | Projects | About | Reviews | Contact | Get a Quote
Hero:
Quality Home Extensions & Renovations Across South West London
[View Our Work] [Get a Quote]
Then:
Projects → Services → Why Choose Us → Reviews → About → FAQs → Contact/Quote
One thing I'd prioritise above almost everything else
Photos of real completed projects.
For a builder, the website should feel less like a brochure and more like a visual portfolio that proves you can deliver. A potential customer should be able to land on the site and within 30 seconds see impressive work, understand what you do, see evidence that customers trust you, and know how to contact you.
