Squarespace website builders and designers. Colour codes explained.
When you’re building a Squarespace website you’ll choose your site styles-it’s the paintbrush icon in the top right hand side of your edit screen. One of the choices along with Fonts you’ll see is ‘Colour Palette’. You’ll be able to choose the colours that are used on your website.
Colour codes explain the specific RGB (Red, Green, Blue) components of a colour by representing their intensity using a six-digit hexadecimal (hex) number, which is a sequence of two characters for each colour component. For example, the hex code #FFFFFF represents white (all red, green, and blue at maximum intensity, 255 each), while #000000 is black (all components at minimum intensity, 0 each).
How Hex Colour Codes Work
Start with a Hashtag:
Hex colour codes begin with a hash sign (
#
) followed by six digits.RGB Components:
The six digits are divided into three pairs, representing the intensity of red, green, and blue, respectively.
First Two Digits: Red intensity.
Next Two Digits: Green intensity.
Last Two Digits: Blue intensity.
Hexadecimal Values:
Each pair of digits uses a hexadecimal (base-16) system.
00 (or 000000): Represents zero intensity (black).
FF (or FFFFFF): Represents the highest intensity (white).
10-255: The letters A through F represent decimal values 10 through 15.
You can also enter a colour by using an image. Great for matching a colour. Take a screen shot of the colour you want to use and drag it into the match with an image section at the bottom and it will cleverly match it and give you a hex code.
