Squarespace SEO Specialists

You can have the most beautifully designed website and great functionality but unless your potential customers see it you won’t get any calls. In order for your potential users to see your content and understand how great you are Google needs to have indexed your website and rank it on their search engine, ideally on their first page.

Search Engine Optimisation or SEO is something you need to apply to your Squarespace website in order for Google to understand what it is you do and what your offering is. There are a number of things you can do straight away and there are a number of things you can start doing regularly.

A few of the first things you can do straight away are:

Improve your Home page. Think of Google looking at your website as well as your potential clients. Make your offering really clear and simple so that when they first arrive at your Home page it’s really obvious what you do or what you’re selling. Structure your headings H1, H2, H3 etc and label your images. Only one H1 heading at the top per page.

Make sure your website loads quickly. Images that are too large or videos loaded into the pages will slow the loading time of your website. Google won’t rank your website if it loads slowly because they want to serve up search results with websites that load quickly so mobile users get a good experience.

Duplicate content. Be very careful not to duplicate content on your website. Google doesn’t like it and will mark you down if it can see the same content on different pages.

Keyword stuffing. It isn’t necessary to put a keyword or key phrase jammed in everywhere you can. Your content should read well, and be useful to the user. Google takes a very dim view of keyword suffing.

Fill in the SEO field on your pages. This is something Google sees and aligns these fields with what you’re saying on the pages.

A few things you can do longer term longer term:

Write Blogs and add new content. Once you’ve got the items above in place writing blogs on a Squarespace website is by far the best things ongoing you can do for your SEO. Be careful not to write rubbish that your users won’t read. Quality is very important. Write blogs as regularly as you can. You and use Squarespace AI to help you.

Keep your website up to date. Keep you content relevant. Still talking about last Christmas in mid July is not good practice and you’re not a good search result if your site is out of date.

Reciprocal links: Ask your clients to put a link to your website on theirs and you can reciprocate. Google links to see you’re popular.

Social media; Try and get as much of your social media traffic you can to go on your website. Google likes to see visitors coming and engaging with your content.
