We have a new design or ‘template’ to buy. It’s imaginatively named ‘Design 22’ and I’ve put it first on the list on the home page here. It’s a very contemporary design and would suit a social media or marketing type business. You can see the full demo here.

Squarespace is a fantastic platform that has historically supplied new users with a set of templates to get them started with design. These templates provided by Squarespace have often been fairly dull and skewed toward the US market. In the UK we typically look for more refined, sophisticated designs for our websites. There are, of course, lots of templates to choose from beyond Squarespace. Many are supplied by US website makers, but they tend to be expensive and follow a very similar aesthetic.

All you need to do is pick a design you like and make it uniquely yours by adding your own content. Much of the placeholder text in the templates is in Latin, making it clear which parts you’ll want to replace. The images are equally simple to swap out with your own photos. Once that’s complete, fill in the SEO fields, give your images descriptive filenames, and connect the site to your existing domain—or register a new one through Squarespace—and set up your email.
