Are FAQs good for SEO? How should I add them to my Squarespace 7.1 website?

SEO

Adding a FAQ section to a Squarespace website can provide valuable SEO benefits by helping your site address the questions your target audience is actively searching for.

By including relevant questions and clear, useful answers, you can naturally incorporate important keywords and phrases into your content.

This can help search engines better understand what your website is about and increase the range of search queries for which your pages may be relevant.

A well-structured FAQ section can also improve the overall relevance and usefulness of your website. Search engines aim to provide users with content that answers their questions effectively, so creating genuinely helpful responses can support the quality and topical depth of your site. FAQs can also target longer, more specific search phrases, giving you opportunities to reach visitors who are searching for detailed information about your products, services or industry.

FAQ content can also contribute to a better user experience, which is an important part of creating a successful website. By answering common questions in one convenient location, you can help visitors find information quickly and reduce uncertainty before they contact you or make a purchase. Keeping users engaged with useful, easy-to-navigate content can make your website more valuable to both visitors and search engines.

Finally, regularly reviewing and updating your FAQ section gives you an opportunity to expand your website's content as customer needs and search behaviour change. New questions can be added based on enquiries you receive, while outdated information can be removed or refreshed. On a Squarespace website, this makes an FAQ section a relatively straightforward way to build useful, keyword-relevant content while providing visitors with the information they need to take the next step.

For most Squarespace sites, the best approach is to use Squarespace’s built-in Accordion block rather than creating the FAQs with custom code. Squarespace specifically recommends accordion blocks for FAQ-style content, and they keep the page compact by showing the answers only when a visitor expands a question. See an example image below….

How should I add these FAQ to my website?

1. Create a dedicated FAQ section/page

For example:

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to our most common questions. If you can't find what you're looking for, [contact us].

Then group questions into logical categories if you have more than about 10–15 questions:

  • General

  • Services / Products

  • Pricing

  • Delivery / Timescales

  • Bookings

  • Returns / Cancellations

2. Add an Accordion block

In Squarespace:

Edit page → Add Block → Accordion

Then add each question as the Title and the answer as the Description. You can drag questions to reorder them.

3. Keep each answer concise

Instead of:

"There are a number of different factors that can affect how long this process takes..."

Aim for something like:

How long does it take?
Most orders are completed within 5–7 working days. We'll confirm the expected completion date when you place your order.

If an answer needs substantially more detail, link to a dedicated page rather than putting a huge paragraph inside the accordion.

4. Make the questions sound like things customers actually ask

Good:

How much does a consultation cost?
How long does delivery take?
Do you offer refunds?
Can I change my booking?

Less useful:

Pricing Information
Delivery Information
Refund Policy

The first approach also gives you more opportunities to naturally match the language people use when searching Google.

One important SEO point

Don't create an FAQ purely for SEO. Make it genuinely useful to visitors. Put the most important questions near the top, and link relevant answers to your service/product pages.

You can also add a Search block if the site contains a large amount of content; Squarespace's search results use things such as page titles, descriptions, excerpts, categories, tags and keyword-rich content.

What we’d use

For a typical small-business Squarespace site, we’d structure it like this:

FAQ page

General

  • What does [your business] do?

  • Where are you based?

  • Do you work with customers outside [area]?

Services

  • What is included?

  • How does the process work?

  • How long does it take?

Pricing

  • How much does it cost?

  • Do you require a deposit?

  • Are there any additional charges?

After booking

  • Can I change my appointment?

  • What happens if I need to cancel?

  • How do I contact you?
