How to set up Acuity on a Squarespace website

Here’s a clear, practical way to set up Acuity Scheduling (now Squarespace Scheduling) and connect it so clients pay when booking an appointment on your Squarespace site.

🧩 Step 1: Set up Squarespace Scheduling (Acuity)

  1. Go to Scheduling in your Squarespace account
    (or directly via Squarespace Scheduling)

  2. Complete the basics:

    • Set your availability (calendar hours)

    • Add your time zone

    • Connect your calendar (Google, Outlook, iCloud)

🗓️ Step 2: Create Appointment Types (Your Services)

  1. Go to Appointment Types

  2. Click New Type of Service

  3. Fill in:

    • Name (e.g., “Consultation”)

    • Duration (e.g., 60 mins)

    • Price (this is your fee 💰)

👉 This is where you “link your fee” — each appointment type has its own price.

💳 Step 3: Connect Payment Processor

To charge clients at booking:

  1. Go to Payments

  2. Connect one:

    • Stripe (best for cards)

    • PayPal

  3. Choose how you charge:

    • Full payment at booking ✅ (most common)

    • Deposit only

    • Optional payment

🔗 Step 4: Add Booking Calendar to Your Website

You have 2 main options:

Option A: Scheduling Block (easiest)

  • Edit your Squarespace page

  • Add a Scheduling Block

  • Select your calendar

Option B: Button → Booking Page

  • Add a button like “Book Now”

  • Link it to your scheduling page URL

⚙️ Step 5: Make Payment Required (Important)

Inside Payment Settings:

  • Enable “Require payment to book”

  • Choose whether it's:

    • Full fee

    • Deposit

👉 This ensures no one can confirm a booking without paying.

✅ What the Client Experience Looks Like

  1. Client clicks “Book Now”

  2. Picks a time

  3. Selects service (with price shown)

  4. Enters details

  5. Pays immediately

  6. Appointment confirmed automatically 🎉

💡 Pro Tips

  • Use buffer time between appointments to avoid back-to-back bookings

  • Set up email confirmations & reminders (reduces no-shows)

  • Offer packages or bundles if you sell multiple sessions

  • Add a cancellation policy (with fees if needed)
