UK businesses are far better off talking to a Squarespace expert based in the UK. The way UK businesses works is a little different to the way a European or a US based business operates. We have a certain sophistication in the way our websites look and function, we also speak a language that is slightly different and nuanced. It’s important for a UK business to speak to a Squarespace expert that’s based in the UK.

We’ve recently been working on two websites that have been worked on by contractors listed on Fiver. It’s quite common to find lots of errors and necessary code in these websites. The website owner in most cases would have been better off to contact someone in the UK who understands a UK Squarespace website. A cheap contractor in a far off country can often create more problems for the website owner and attract additional cost getting someone like us to fix all of the errors.

Very often too we find that a new website isn’t necessarily needed as the existing website can be redesigned. It’s much cheaper to redesign a website rather than starting from scratch. From an SEO perspective there will be plenty of good ranking information in the old website which will be lost if it’s scrapped and a new website is built.

We also design templates for Squarespace websites. The templates you can buy from the US template stores are quite different from the ones we sell. They look American and the spelling and language is very different. Of course you can bring in your own content and images and project a more sophisticated UK message but the design is a little different too and a UK business wants a design that suits their UK customer.

A website redesign is often needed by the owner as a result of needing to update or because their market has slightly changed. The images will need to suit that UK business and so will the new text. Any American spelling will put of a UK user and the language and message will need to appeal to their UK user. The currency will also need to be £GBP.

So in summary it’s always best for a UK business to choose a UK Squarespace website designer. It may be cheaper to go with a contractor from the likes of Fiver but you may, as we have found, that a bit of UK expertise is far better.
